Q&As with Grant Morfitt

You’ve been at LocateSmarter since September of 2016. Where did you work before LocateSmarter and how has your previous job experience helped you in your role today?

“Before coming to LocateSmarter, I started out with various roles in the mortgage servicing industry dealing with default loans. Afterwards I worked for John Deere in supply management and then a role in cost management. When the job at LocateSmarter came available, I knew it would be a perfect fit being able to use my analytical and computer skills to the fullest.”

What does a typical work day look like for you as an analyst at LocateSmarter?

“I would say there is no such thing as a typical day for me. Every day seems to be different from the others. One day may be analyzing clients disposition data and making recommendations on any changes. The next day could be examining vendor performance across our products. One thing that makes the job so great is that it is ever-changing.”

When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your free time?

“Pretty much all of my time when not at work is spent with my family. I have been married for almost 10 years now, and have three kids (ages 6, 4, and 2) – a lot of building forts, playing Mario Kart, and reading books. (My kids love to read.) The wife and I try to sneak out occasionally, to just grab food and some drinks. I also like to play slow pitch softball in the summer, and indoor volleyball in the winter.”

What is one thing people may not know about Grant Morfitt?

“Many people probably know that I like to play sports and video games. Most probably don’t know how many hours I have put into online video games. I am currently sitting at over 250 hours in both Lord of the Rings Online as well as League of Legends, and I had over 100 hours in Defense of the Ancients 2 (DOTA2) before I stopped playing that. I have also beat every single player Final Fantasy RPG game from 1 to 13.”

In your opinion, how is LocateSmarter different than other companies in the data or debt collection industry?

“I feel that what makes us different than the rest is our ability to customize our products based on what works for the client. We can take our client’s data and use it to refine their product, so we know exactly what is going on. We are also the right size of company that treats every customer the same whether you spend thousands of dollars a month or a hundred, we make sure everyone gets what they want.”

With Memorial Day later this month, what will you be grilling?

“For myself, it will for sure be steak, usually either a T-Bone or a large ribeye, at least 16 ounces, closer to 20 if I can find one. The rest of the adults that I grill for will get steaks and then some hot dogs for the kids.”

“I would have to guess around 250 ounces a week. Or about 21 cans, 3 a day sounds about right.”
