Q&As with Brett Menzie
Brett, tell us about your previous work experience and how it will help you provide value to clients at LocateSmarter.
“Nearly 10 years ago I joined a technology vendor that worked primarily with collection agencies. There I was able to combine my previous experience in personal finance and love of technology with the intricacies of the ARM industry in that role, along with additional roles since. The knowledge gained and relationships fostered will afford me the exciting opportunity to give maximum value to the LocateSmarter prospects (future clients) and current clients alike.”
What are you most excited about as you get started with LocateSmarter?
“Meeting and getting to know the LocateSmarter team has been fantastic and I am really excited to soak up all of their knowledge and expertise. This will, naturally, allow me to impart nuggets of wisdom to others in the industry as we seek to raise the tide and lift all of the proverbial boats with some exceptional products like Phone Append and LocateScore.”
When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your free time?
“I love to stay abreast of the latest news and trends, so you’ll find me listening to podcasts and audiobooks in my spare time or when driving. On Friday nights we enjoy a stay-at-home movie night with my wife and kids, and on Saturday or Sunday you might find me taking in a football game or televised race (MotoGP or F1). “
What is one thing people may not know about Brett Menzie?
“I only have one kidney. On a related note, I encourage everyone become an organ donor.”
2020 is right around the corner; what do you think the new year holds for you?
“My spidey-sense is telling me that 2020 is going to be a great year and I feel truly blessed to be a part of the exciting future of LocateSmarter.”
Tell us about one of your favorite travel destinations.
“If you ever make it to Southern Utah then you’re most likely visiting Zion National Park – and rightfully so. Unfortunately the scenic beauty has caused the park to become overcrowded, so I recommend to all who visit the area to spend some time in Snow Canyon State Park (just outside of St. George, Utah). It features picturesque and other-worldly red sandstone cliffs on both sides of the valley, some underground caves, and multiple spectacular photo opportunities from many of the hiking trails within.”
Okay now a series of quick questions…
Favorite Movie: I just finished Malcolm Gladwell’s Talking With Strangers where he examines how our interactions with strangers can often go wrong. His books are always interesting and thought-provoking. He’s my favorite author and his books are my de-facto favorites.
Favorite Food: Santa Maria-style Tri-Tip Sandwich
First Job: Besides babysitting at a young age, my first real job was as a cashier at a bakery in Agoura Hills, California. I still have dreams about that jalapeño cheddar bread.
Favorite Saying: President Abraham Lincoln once said “If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend.” This is just as true now as it was then.
Favorite sport: Is football a season? If so then that – yes, definitely that season.
