Brandon started off his professional career in the mortgage industry before moving to collections and data. His numbers-driven approach has helped to improve both our products’ performance and our clients’ collection and dialing strategies, resulting in more RPCs and operational efficiency. Q&As with Brandon Huisman
How long have you been in the collection industry? How long have you been with LocateSmarter?
“I have 8 years of experience in various aspects of the collection industry. I spent 4 years working in the mortgage industry, completing short sales on distressed properties. I then moved to CBE Companies in 2013 as a corporate analyst and have worked as the Manager of Analytics at LocateSmarter since 2014.”
Brandon, you help our clients make sense of their call disposition data. Why do you think it isn’t being looked at often enough and why is it important?
“There are so many different variables at play that impact the effectiveness of any call center that it can be very difficult for companies to find the most optimal strategies. I think that call/account disposition data is the most underutilized asset at each organization’s disposal. Many companies struggle to fully leverage it due to its complexity. This data can give incredible insights into your collection strategies, dialing strategies, workforce management, and data acquisition practices.”
If you were to give our readers advice on how to conduct a champion challenge between their skip tracing vendors, what would you tell them?
“Remove bias from your testing. A test needs to be structured in a way that allows for an apples to apples comparison upon completion. Without these practices, the results may create more questions and confusion than they do clear cut answers.”
How do you spend your time outside of work?
“I absolutely love the outdoors. I spend countless hours in the fall hunting waterfowl, pheasants, and whitetail deer. I also make 2 trips a year to Canada to fish for musky and walleye. I may spend my work life in the office, but my personal life is spent outside.”
What is one thing people may not know about Brandon Huisman?
“I survived an EF5 tornado in 2008 that destroyed over half of my hometown. After the storm, it took me 3 days before I found my vehicle in the basement of a former home. Once recovered, I found my fishing poles and golf clubs fully intact, however my vehicle was barely recognizable.”

“I find myself most motivated when faced with new challenges. I have a competitive nature and I enjoy learning new and better ways of doing things, and both of those have helped me succeed in my position.”

“Wider use of new technologies to drive better decisions and efficiencies.”
